DECEMBER DISCOUNT DAYS...DAY 22!

so, today is officially WINTER!!! well, i am ecstatic about that as it is and always will be my favorite season. however, i may have a bone or two to pick with Mr. December. this month has been more like spring than any December i can remember....and that bums me out. hopefully, at some point. Jack Frost will decide to pay me a visit. i miss him.

on a happier note....today is officially the first day of WINTER!!! and this beauty is today's FEATURED DRAWING! the lovely and pristine, Crystal.

{on a side note, i'm wearing RAIN boots to the post office today instead of SNOW boots. can i just say how wrong that is?! :( }

hard to believe we are already 18 days into December....and it's not feeling one teeny tiny little bit like winter here on the east coast (very upset about this). on that note, today's FEATURED ORIGINAL DRAWING has more of a spring vibe to her (fitting for 65 degrees...in December). beautiful little Blossom is 40% off today.

sweet, little Icelyn. 

this is the third (and final) drawing in my series of three whimsical winter girls. i know, i know....it's almost spring (ugh!) but custom work always comes first and i've had a few of those *jobs*the last couple of weeks (no complaints-love custom work) so little Icleyn here had to take a back seat. but....

she's DONE (yay me!) and FOR SALE here along with her two lovely companions...little miss Crystal and my personal favorite, little miss Glacia (love the happy little twisted pout on her...).

although i shall bid my love, mr. winter, adieu in a few days, it will eternally be winter in my heart...(hey look, someone has to show some love for that season...and well, i have MAJ love for it!)

just a peek at some new art for 2015!

working on a few ORIGINAL DRAWINGS that will be FOR SALE the first week of 2015...looking forward to the new year and the new opportunities it shall bring! :)

on the easel this week (and next week)...

the FINAL mermaid in the birthstone series i began back in january. didn't think it'd take 12 months to complete 12 paintings...but a third c-spine surgery will do that to ya. however i'm a driven and determined little thing and i will overcome. always! :)

meet little Crystal, April's mermaid...based on the diamond. ironically i end the series with the month i had surgery. go figure...

this one is being painted in a mix of cool blues and grays...a very WINTRY palette (and we all know how much i LOVE me some WINTER!!!).

this will also be 2013's last painting, as i plan to spend decmeber (my FAVORITE month) sketching out lots of new ideas for new paintings in 2014. super stoked for some new work and a new year...and a fresh start! :)

MAD LOVE....

for this man! who DOESN'T know that about me?! i swear little kids that i taught 6 years ago or so will tell you "ms. nicole loves peyton manning!". no kidding...

i loved him well before we ever had those horrific neck surgeries/fusions in common. and, i'll love him even after he retires. he's a total CLASS ACT and deserves EVERYTHING good to come his way. you would think after all those surgeries (and they are PURE HELL to live through and recover from- since you're dealing with a bunch of nerves in the cervical spine) that he would have just given up and retired. but no, he comes back ten times stronger and more determined than ever.

the amount of respect and admiration i have for him goes well beyond any words that i could ever convey except to say...this man is EVERYTHING.

what's better than a hug...?

so ready for september....

and it's beautiful little sapphire haired mermaid named Iris.

i've had just about enough of this rain forest like humidity and awful heat we've been having for the last few weeks here. soooo ready for september, fall...and dare i say....WINTER?! i'm ALWAYS ready for WINTER, but this summer is really one for the books! so over it!

i've been sketching out the remaining 5 mermaids over the last week, with september, october and may all sketched and ready to be laid out on the canvases. february and april are the only 2 left to sketch.

still recovering from the third c-spine fusion a couple of months ago, as healing this time around is going to take longer than i would like, due to all the surgeries in a short amount of time. so, i'm trying to pace myself and work a little slower than my usual rocket speed pace. but...doctor's orders :)

going to start painting beautiful little Iris here in the next couple of days and i can't wait to pick up the brush and work with gorgeous blues and violets on this one!

yes, animals such as this exist in nicole's world for sure! besides, i have such a crazy love for candy canes and all things peppermint, that i just couldn't resist putting it into a little character ;)

so, pippa and peppermint....santa's little helpers for 2012. because you don't have to be an elf or a reindeer to lend a helping hand!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO THE CUTEST DISNEY CHARACTER EVER!!!

here is a drawing i did last month for someone who loves this little elephant too!:) needless to say, i was super tempted to keep it for myself. but i didn't...

i think this is when my obsession with elephants began. i love stuffed elephants so much that i sleep with one named maggie every. single. night. and i'm proud to admit to that too ;)

trick or treat, love pippa...and licorice :)

welcoming in fall is my sweet little character pippa...and her black bird friend licorice. pippa (who we all know is really ME-hence the uggs she usually has on) is dressed in her pumpkin costume and ready to hand out candy to all the little trick or treaters at the pumpkin patch. with the help of licorice, of course....;)

i wanted to do a painting of this, but time does not really allow for it. so...i took out my favorite *tools*...the tinted graphite pencils by derwent. OMG....i am so in love with these pencils. it's ironic because i seem to be known for (for a lack of a better phrase) for my use of bright and bold color in my paintings. yet, i am totally crazy about the look of tinted graphite. and, i'm truly a pencil girl at heart so these pencils really make me happy. AND...they are water soluble as well, so i often use a water brush pen (like a did here) filled with clear water and very gently add some water to the drawing and....POOF....magic!:)

anyway, not that i have gone off on my tangent about these pencils, i want to say that pippa here is available FOR SALE as a LIMITED EDITION print in my etsy shop found here

lost in the woods?! not with friends like this...:)

a sketch for a painting i am working on (in between a few custom orders....just a few). this lovely piece satisfies my need for some serious cold weather and SNOW, as it is just WAY TOO HOT lately. of course, then again, summer is NOT my season. snow bunny all the way!:)

p.s. i have a *thing* for white birch trees and cardinals. i just a have a *thing* for WINTER in general. big surprise....;)
