that's what i've decided to name this little "Beauty". i have a hunch that "she's the one. the one who'll break the spell".

managed to squeeze in this little painting while drawing a couple of commissions the last month. Belle has always been my favorite princess despite seeing the new version of Beauty and the Beast and not really liking it. but i'll keep my opinions on that one to myself...;)

of a princess.

been working on a small (5x7-smaller than my usual size anyway) of the beautiful and sassy Belle from Beauty and the Beast. she's always been my favorite most likely because she is the one princess with whom i identify the most....her love of books, her sweet and sassy ways and her really kind heart. oh, and she's a brunette, of course. ;)

hoping to wrap this painting up by the end of the week..and to get around to seeing the movie which came out this past weekend. heard GREAT things about it...

my heart....

those who know me know that i am a sucker for little kids. healthy ones, sick ones, underprivileged ones....all little kids. perhaps it comes from spending 16 years of my life as a preschool teacher, which is much more than just "teaching"...it's an almost maternal-like *job* (and i use the word "job" very loosely-as it never was anything of the sort for me).

this beauty from last year...SOLD!!!

this little email came through my inbox this afternoon and i was so humbled that i couldn't help but tear up. this week, i SOLD TWO ORIGINAL paintings...not commissions. seriously, humbled is an understatement.

was really stunned when this SOLD earlier in the week....as i had NO intention of bidding this princess adieu. knowing she was going somewhere where she would be much loved, well that makes selling her even more bitter sweet.

juggling 4 paintings in the next 2 weeks....1 of which has a deadline of midnight, march 12 (for a certain movie being released the following day. any guesses??? hint-there may be a glass slipper involved somehwhere...;)

the other 3 paintings? a custom nursery art order for a sweet little boy named Turner whose lovely grandma contacted me for some custom initial panels to match her gorgeous nursery for her 2 grandsons. aww, how sweet! :)

a method to my madness...

i always love seeing how other artists come up with their masterpieces...from the moment of conception to the finished product. 

so, i thought i'd share my 3 step process...from the tiny, super tight little thumbnail to the full size sketch (same size as the canvas) to the completed painting.

i promised one more princess before the holidays. and here she is! the lovely tiana and her adorable frog prince.

can i say that i'm actually pleased with this way this turned out? sure i can...;)
i LOVED painting her dress the most (must be my *thing* for princess dresses. actually i just have a *thing* for dresses all together....big surprise....)
