every night he gathers by his most favorite toadstool under a sky of polka dot stars. Magically, the leaves begin to play the most peaceful of melodies that lull little Lionel into the sweetest of sleeps.

Lionel's Lullaby Tree. NEW ART PRINT FOR SALE HERE!! I also have the ORIGINAL PAINTING AVAILABLE. Contact me if interested.

I loved working on these mixed media animals over the summer. I also have an owl named Otus available here and two others I worked on last summer (an adorable bear and another owl). These are so much fun and I'm hoping to maybe work on some arctic animals this coming January...because we all know how much I LOVE WINTER!!!

a sweet little duet....

autumn serenade
6x6, mixed media on canvas panel

between a cute little bird and a wide eyed baby bear...an "autumn serenade".

this is the second (but it sure won't be the last) piece i created this summer when i was trying my hand at mixed media. can i just tell you what a total blast it was creating this piece?! so much fun and a bit out of the box for me as i am a SUPER DUPER AWESOME planner. seriously. it's one of my finer traits....i think so, anyway. ;) this little creation was kind of spontaneous....kind of....

i knew i wanted to do a bear with an autumn color scheme. the rest just kind of happened the more i kept adding different layers, different supplies...and, being my absolute own worst critic well, i'm rather pleased with the way it turned out. i mean, c'mon..look at the face on the baby bear...you just gotta love him. :)

PRINTS available here. ORIGINAL PAINTING is FOR SALE. contact me here if interested.

also, here's a link to sweet ophelia...a colorful owl done in this same mixed media style.

perhaps 2017 will bring about some more of these little *experiments*....

the bond of sisterhood...

here is a small piece i did for 2 very special sisters i went to high school with. both are very strong women, as they have (are) battling 2 different kinds of cancer. just typing that word alone makes me cringe. one has won her battle with breast cancer (YAY!!!). the other fighting a very difficult battle with neuroendocrine cancer. this painting is for them both. the gerbera daisies are the favorite flower of jeni (suffering from the neuroendocrine form). the plan was for a bunch of us to send cards to her to be given to her when her results come back later this week. well, i kicked it up a notch and did this painting. the 2 daisies represent both sisters. and the symbols/writing stand for "sisters", the elder one and the younger one.

i used a combo of inks and my beloved inktense pencils by derwent
as well as some water soluble graphite. all framed and ready to be handed over this coming monday. can't wait to give it! and, no matter what the results turn out to be, both of these women should be proud and amazed at the battles they have fought...and won (and will win). much love to them both!
