this last commission was for me. i don't usually paint in silhouette nor do i pant graphically (for a lack of a better word). however, when the client gives you carte blanche, well life is a whole lot easier. :)

below are the reference photos i was given, my sketch and the finished painting is above.

i am so happy that this piece is all done for alexis and baby carter! actually i had it done last week, but i needed to add the quote and am waiting on the lovely walnut wood frame i ordered (i thought it would really pick up the brown tones in the giraffes).

for the quote, i printed it out on vellum, painted the back of the vellum with a white acrylic paint...sort of like a cloud effect. then, i spray mounted it down to the painting and put a thin wash of light blue acrylic paint on top of it in certain areas. all i have left to do is mat and frame:)
