thought this painting from last year entitled "ribbons undone" was perfect for this week's IF theme, "heart".
{still remains one of my favorites...most likely because i took the inspiration from my favorite musical maven, Tori Amos and her song of the same name.}
this little treasury is everything. anyone who curates a treasury based on Tori Amos songs, well that's someone i just instantly have to show some love for! and, including MY tribute painting to Tori? happy...and humbled. :)
this painting form last year, entitled "ribbons undone" (named after the Tori song of the same name, of course) is one of my favorites. visit my etsy shop to purchase a print of her or a cute little compact mirror (only ONE left...) . also, over at fine art america, you can purchase this piece on a multitude of awesome products....from tote bags to duvet covers.
and, just because we are talking about Tori here, well here's the inspiration for this piece....:)
what's that you say, mr. polar bear? you'd like to take me away with you on an ARCTIC adventure? well, yes sir. i would happily oblige you, mr. polar bear...as we seem to have a true love and appreciation for the same type of climate. :)
{it's NO secret...i loathe summer, heat and humidity. not one bone in my little august born body likes this weather...especially once the numbers hit triple digits. add in the words "oppressive" and "heat warning" and yeah, nicole is not a happy camper. so.....
AC is pumped up, Christmas music is on (after all it is Christmas in july) and i'll be dreaming of snowflakes and Christmas lights while painting at the easel. speaking of "Christmas lights"...(sorry, couldn't resist attaching the video below) which leads me to some wishful thinking...perhaps a little Chris Martin under my preverbal Christmas tree. hmmm..;)}
***ps and btw, here's a link to the painting above...FOR SALE as a PRINT***
i thought there was a "mysterious" element to this piece... my submission for this week's i.f. theme. i did this painting (entitled wish hope believe) back in the beginning of 2011 for a little girl waiting on a heart down at AI DuPont hospital. it was sold in a silent auction to benefit her cause. unfortuneately, she's still there...waiting on a heart:( hopefully soon her waiting will end and she will have the heart she so desperately needs! to learn more about josie and here cause visit here: http://www.thebeatgoeson.org/ for a print of this piece visit my etsy shop here: http://www.etsy.com/listing/66788891/wish-hope-believe-reproduction
as many of you who follow my blog already know, i did this painting for a sweet little girl named josie basta who was waiting on a heart down at AI DuPont hopsital. www.thebeatgoeson.org this was done for a silent auction that took place back in april of this year. this painting has changed my life in so many ways that if i state them i will surely start to cry while typing. (yes, it's that good:)) well, even better, is the news i received tonight...that josie's long awaited and much needed heart is finally on it's way to her. her long and harrowing journey may be coming to an end...a happy end...and in turn a beautiful beginning!:) prayers and love to this little girl, her family and the amazing donor family willing to take part in this miracle!
my version of Alice...from Wonderland! for the last couple of weeks, i just wanted to draw up little Alice bec i couldn't get the idea out of my head (which is OVERFLOWING with ideas at ALL times)! so, this is what i came up with. i am anxiously awaiting dipping my brush into my paint and getting started!!!! this will be offered as an ORIGINAL in my etsy shop as soon as it is complete. it is on an 11x14 stretched canvas (as opposed to the boards which i usually use for my illustrations). that is why i will be offering it as an ORIGINAL. oh, and by the way, there is and never will be a cheshire cat in any Alice illustrations i do! everyone who knows me knows how i feel about cats...NOT A FAN!!!!!!!!!!!!! just sayin'...;)
