scott and reiko...and murphy and ninja;)

wow...i got this done a lot quicker than i thought i would...whew! 10 hours of straight painting on saturday (with an abundance of coffee, of course) and voila...scott, reiko(in her little red kimono)...and of course their 2 cats, murphy and ninja;) and...i am so NOT a cat person so i really had to go out on a limb for my dear friend reiko;) but, these cats are kind of cute...kind of...i think it was the only way i could incorporate the cats, to make them cute:)

happily ever after

here is my latest piece entitled "happily ever after". it was supposed to be done for valentine's day just because i thought it would be cute, but once again, my plate was full with custom orders so i had to move a little slower on it than i would have liked.
anyway, i'm glad it's all done:) it's supposed to be me...still looking for the groom;)
next project is another custom piece for a girlfriend of mine out in california who wanted a cute little painting of her and her boyfriend...and their 2 cats for his birthday. the sketch is below. she's oriental...can you tell?;)

NEW WEBSITE!!!

well, the last 8 weeks or so have been nuts! i was hell-bent on redesigning my website ALL BY MYSELF...on top of the million other things that i am trying to do as well;) anyway, i spent the last 2 months working rather hard on it...every weekend...hardly any painting (hence the fact the i have barely participated in illustration fridays or posted any new illustrations), but hopefully it all paid off!
i did a couple illustrations specifically for the website...the "about me" page and the "contact page" are where you can find those new little paintings:) also, LOVING the gallery format i came up with where you click on the thumbnails on the paintings and they open up nice and big for everyone to clearly see!
if anyone has any feedback, please post it...and thank you for taking the time to visit my new site:)
up next...making self-promotional postcards to send out to art directors with some samples! i am on my way to being a kids book illustrator...keep your fingers crossed;)
and hopefully....more illustrations fridays are to come as well as some new illustrations now that the website is finally done!!!

"wilderness"~sketch for illustration friday 1/15/10

well, unfortuneatley, time did not permit me to be able to submit a finished painting for this week's i.f. theme of "wilderness":( however, i was so excited to be able to have SOME time to participate in it again (since i've been CRAZY BUSY these last few months w/custom work) that i didn't want to skip out on it this week. i figured the ROUGH pencil/pastel sketch here was better than nothing at all! although, i do have every intention of making a finished piece out of this...one day SOON i hope! enjoy:)))
